Emily and the Dark Angel A Rouge Regency Romance edition by Jo Beverley Romance eBooks
I enjoyed Jo Beverly's firm fixing of this story in "hunt country" with the traditions, and the personalities attracted to the sport. The hero was an interesting person, the heroine brave. there was considerable humor and portraiture of interesting personalities. I enjoy a story with a "just ending" in which the premise is well answered by the conclusion. It was enjoyable.Product details

Emily and the Dark Angel A Rouge Regency Romance edition by Jo Beverley Romance eBooks Reviews
If you like Jo Beverly the book is worth the read. It is not up to her usual standards. This is a earlier book and she has definitely improved her writing game over the years. The character connections and the juicy passionate lovemaking was lacking in this book. It felt incomplete at the end but overall a good story.
I loved this book the first time I read it many years ago. I enjoyed it just as much this time.
The times and their customs make interesting reading for anyone interested in historical novels. Jo Beverley is one of my favorite writers.
The writing is witty, the characters are perfectly imagined, and the story premise is good. I especially like how the author contrives Emily and Piers' first meeting. One of the things that bothers me, however, is how quickly and effortlessly Piers falls in love with Emily. Keeping them semi-hostile neighbors would have built more suspense and would have allowed for a credible maturation of his feelings for her. It seemed a little precipitous that he declares he's in love with her just a little over halfway into the book, especially since they've only had a few meetings up to that point. I think the sensuality could have been turned up a few degrees, especially considering how terrifically attractive and devilish Piers' character is.
I wanted this book a long time ago, but it was out of print. I didn't want to pay an arm & a leg for a used copy, so I waited. All I can say is - it's about time! I can't believe they let this book stay out of print. What a keeper! I really enjoyed it. There's no graphic sex, but a LOT of passion! Shades of Georgette Heyer, who is the Queen of Regency novels.
Always enjoy a Beverley story, old or new. I love these characters and the plot of this book. On to the next book.
Well-portrayed Regency color and characters. Intriguing twists on the way to a somewhat pat and hasty ending. I will be acquiring the other books in the series.
